They are here! The pups made it. Mom and babies are doing fine for now. So far everyone seems to be healthy and having no complications. I PRAY that it continues that way. This litter was much more taxing on my puppy than the last. She labored much longer, had difficulty pushing a couple of the puppies out, how much, much longer "rest periods" between pups and the poor thing was so fast on the clean up that she consumed most of the "birth waste" and then spent HOURS vomiting. I already told Tony I am not sure that I can do this again. I don't know if I can put my poor dog through it. She is such an awesome obedient dog. Has such a great instinct and is so athletic. I want for everyone to have a pup just like her. Cabella is the kind of dog that makes a lifelong cat lover like myself convert to dog loving.
We were lucky enough this time to be able to go back to the same guy who owns the fantastic Bronco that we bred with last time. Tyler Schlappi is an all around great guy and avid hunter. We explain to him that we love the look of Bronco but we wanted to try to get some chocolate pups this time around. Why wouldn't we want a bunch of little Cabella's? So we left our Cabella in his capable hands and she was bred with a WONDERFUL dog named Crush. Crush is a pup from one of the litters that Bronco sired and Tyler told Tony that Crush is absolutely the BEST dog he has ever had. He was the easiest to train.
Anyhow....last night we welcomed 7 babies that we are excited to have and prepare for their new homes. Whether that be as a hunting companion or just a beloved family pet.
